In 1971, Buddy Updike started The Auction Man & Associates with two goals in mind:
- First, to provide first quality auction services, in
a professional manner, with an emphasis on honesty, credibility, and a focus on the
clients needs.
- Second, to be able to earn a living as a
professional auctioneer and to develop a reputation for being one of the leading auction
companies in the state of Virginia.
By striving to reach these goals and always putting
the clients needs first, The Auction Man & Associates has grown yearly to become one of the
leading auction companies in the state. |

- In January, 1998, Buddy Updike was named AUCTIONEER OF THE
YEAR at the annual convention of the Virginia Auctioneers
Association.
- In January, 2001, Buddy Updike was inducted into the Virginia
Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame at the annual convention.
